Artist Bio : Christian Moreno
I was born in France in the city of Perpignan in 1972. I was a student at a photography school and i graduated as a photographer in 1993. Then i came to live in Paris where i worked in the field of Antiquities for which if ollowed a training of art crafts.
I have worked in various professions during the first 15 years of my working life while practicing photography and other artistic disciplines that have allowed me to satisfy my need for creative expression. I learned music at the conservatory , i followed workshops in sculpture, painting and decorative arts , and i became aware of the path i had to take. So i became a visual artist in 2010 and i started to exhibit my works in contemporary art fair and art market in Paris.
I only work with materials that i recycle like metal and leather. I work the metal flat and in volume on the canvas with a sculptural approach. I always aim for the effect that the external light will produce on the surface of the material so as to remove the frozen aspect of a work. I polish, i patinate, I work the texture and reflection of the surfaces of the recycled metal to sublimate the wear. I use leather with a more pictorial approach. Unlike the painter who will bring light in an artificial way in his work with its colors, it is by working on the discoloration of leather in the sun for several months that I get the effect of a natural light impregnated in organic matter. I thus make up my palette of colors that i use in my compositions by using a scalpel of marqueter instead of the brush.
My compositions address varied themes, urban architecture, vegetal, animal, societal, in the figurative and abstract form with aesthetics and poetry. I do not remain frozen in a style i prefer to remain free. Picasso said " style is the prison of the artist..." My works , whether metal or leather , are the result of research on the harmonization and expression of the relationship between color and form , texture and tactile emotion , the reflected light on matter and the interaction of the outside world at work , as an exchange between the inner world of the artist and the viewer.
Today i collaborate with the art gallery in Paris «Le 33Mai». I received in 2020 the award of the department of the Seine et Marne at the contemporary art show René Clément-Bayer , and in 2022 the Audience Arward at the inter national market of contemporary art Art Manet. |

Resonances:
It's the name I give to my geometric and architectural abstractions made up of metal, leather, gold leaf and silver.
Resonance is a sound, a vibration from a set of metals bound together and in motion, through the union of their colours and shapes defined in space.
It is a sound, visual and tactile landscape, an emotion that is materialized and cleverly orchestrated by the role of shapes and colors.
It is an architectural perception of the senses, which brings together a depth both on the surface and outside by integrating a third dimension into the canvas, the sole purpose of which is to occupy space.
A Resonance is not made of paint from man's hand, but the artist here is erosion, it's life. She is the one who tells her story by expressing her feelings about matter like the painter on her canvas.
My role comes only after that, when I cut and polished the material to reflect the ambient brightness, so the tones of the board vary depending on where it is.
A new dimension of nature inthen opens on the web, as a second virtual reality overlapping with that of the very material that makes up the table. The reflection permeates the surface of the work as a new layer of unstable paint, and the outside world becomes part of the work.
A Resonance becomes a place of exchange between composition and all that is reflected in it, between the artist's inner universe and the outside world. |
