Paper, brush and ink.. three things made him as he is now

The first time he held the brush cast back to 40 years ago. Back then, he was saddled with choosing a life as a teacher or a calligrapher. Finally, he didn't give up anything.

His life as an elementary school teacher is clearly reflected on his works filled with lively innocence of children.

Born in Muan, North Jeolla province, from the age of five, he rubbed an ink stick on an ink stone by his father who was a scholar of the Chines classics and village school teacher.

He took a breath of lingering image of ink smell and learned the movement of brush. The course of his life was not far from a calligrapher. At college, he was a member of calligraphy club.

The principle of the first school at which he taught was actively involved in a calligraphy, which made it easier for him to be involved in a calligraphy.

While Gu Cheol-Woo made a impact on strengthening the basis of his work, Jeon Myeong-Ok was an unforgettable teacher, who inspired him absolutely a new idea and eyes to the work.

For him, the work is rather close to mind control. Ink, paper and brush, the three things only made him endure an inveterate anticancer treatments over a year.

"I couldn't control the missing on the smell of ink even while I was on the hospital. For me, brush and ink mean a beautiful fate."

Shiny innocence in his clear eyes is gently felt like an ink-and-wash painting.

A sound of laughter by children...

A work reflects the thought and the life of a painter.

His works, which have mainly expressed flawless laughter and innocent soul of children are also vivid with various looks captured while living with them.

They embrace the corrupt world with open heart and draw basic innocence symbolized as 'brightness'. Strong points depicted in the works grab the eyes of people.

The work boasts the finishing touch filled with soft-colored points and lines. In his works, painting is in line with character and character is in line with painting.

My works are interesting in a sense that they include creativeness as well as diversity." He also revealed his point of view on the work. "Modern calligraphy is an art of a line.

Abstract beauty of black and white is completed when both balance and contract between a point and a stroke and between the characters."
