The Founder of Mongheonjugihoa ‧ Beokgang - Ryu, Chang Hee

<The Founder of Mongheonjugihoa ‧ Beokgang - Ryu, Chang Hee>

Beokgang(blue and clear river) Ryu Chang Hee, who is a painter, is the founder of Mongheonjugihoa(the way to paint the power of universe in canvas by dream). Mongheonjugihoa is the way to describe the power of universe harmoniously in canvas by shaping dreams. Furthermore, Beokgang developed unique perspective through percolation and pervasion with Baere technique(the figure of skin which lights up softly at the lower part of sleeves of Hanbok Jeogori-korean traditional jacket-). Baere technique emerges as a part of framework in his works. Beokgang's works are creating folksy and traditional sense of beauty with his own feeling of color by utilizing five colors which are Korean traditional colors and represent Yin-Yang and five elements.

Beokgang Ryu Chang Hee has refused formulaic and fixed world. Instead, he has restructured and transformed the object. His world of art works which uses unique colors and mixes strongness and softness exquisitely with lively and delicate brushstroke has changed in the meantime. His world of art is divided into approximately seven steps .

First step is the time of 'Breakaway' when he started change of thought and transformation of consciousness to represent mental inner world. In second step, which is 'Dream' step, he mainly began the work to transcend the concept of time and space in earnest. In other words, the sun and the moon emerge together and close-range view and distant view mingle. In third step, which is 'Coexistence', he emphasized making harmony by developing and complementing colors. From fourth step, which is 'Samsara' step, Beokgang started to contain three lifes(previous life, present life, and after life) which is the meaning of Buddhist time by appearing three-story stone pagoda. Especially, he used to use fundamental expressional elements on canvas in three dimensions. Fifth step, which is 'Udumbara' step, was the time of reconstitution by expressing natural scene into unique flowers. In sixth step, which is 'Ficus racemosa' step, he expanded Baere technique that he created by making feeling of mural with whitewash(white powder made by clam powder). In last and latest step, which is 'Sumeru' step, the component of his works became elaborate and the color became splendid. With these changes, he tried multidimensional instruction of sense.

In Beokgang's works, dream functions as eliciting and leading inspiration, but actually the main part of painting is the energy of universe. Become the condition of ease and happiness by recovering and healing soul and body, and enjoying and sharing the pleasure of life entirely by regaining the power or the ability to work would be new concept of health that the twenty-first century must aim. The painting of Beokgang contains exactly the new concept of health and is making healing pieces. Through dream, painting extensive, grand, and cosmical energy of healing is 'Mongheonjugihoa', and both painter and appreciator can feel the strong flow of power in painting.

From Mt. Sumeru to Eternity - Bak Jeong-hye(Doctor of Philosophy in Literature Therapy)
 From Mt. Sumeru to Eternity

A noisy calm, refined mix, black white, bright dark, and sharp soft.
Those who do not fit in at all dream of harmony and confrontation in the midst of unity. Just as the moon is cold and clear, all the great plays are pushing their hearts toward a turning point where they blend together. These policies are not really strange.
We are living with both life and death. When you dive into these contradictions, you see a world that transcends boundaries. It can enter the void between being and being, the void of being.
The works of Beokgang Ryu, Chang-hee are entering these dimensions. When the sun and moon meet the water, the mountains and the water, the scenery and the landscape, and the past and present meet, the spirits of absolute silence rise.
It's a place that transcends existence and non-existence, so I'll bet it's a place of origin and a place of energy.

Ken Wilbur, a thinker, once described true and true art -the highest level. First, the growth or maturity of the artist's soul should reach the very point where it is unifying the cosmic soul and transcends separate ego or individual eros. Second, artistic depiction or expression of these spiritual aspects should be made in a way that can evoke similar spiritual insight to those who see it.

In this sense, Beokgang is a writer who constantly dreams of spiritual growth for self-realization. It can be seen through the transformation of the world of work. Since 1986, the work of the wall has been seeking change with a three to four-year cycle.
Beokgang Ryu, Chang Hee has refused formulaic and fixed world. Instead, he has restructured and transformed the object. His world of art works which uses unique colors and mixes strongness and softness exquisitely with lively and delicate brushstroke has changed in the meantime. His world of art is divided into approximately eight steps .

In sixth step, which is 'Ficus racemosa' step, he expanded Baere technique that he created by making feeling of mural with whitewash(white powder made by clam powder). seventh step, which is 'Sumeru' step, the component of his works became elaborate and the color became splendid. With these changes, he tried multidimensional instruction of sense. Recently, there was a stage called 'Eternity' in which 3-Dimensional and figurative works appeared. Lastly, there is ‘Eternity-Sound-Om(a sound of origin)’ a way in which circles and lines, are constructed with centrifugal force, by simplifying and abstracting all shapes in an unconventional way.

In addition, the painting of the wall is 'Mongheonjugihoa; the creation of a wall steel by harmonizing the energy of the universe' and transferring dream signs to a canvas.
"Dream and transcendence" is the path of writers who want freedom in the inner world, and poet Andre Breton saw "Dream and unconscious" as the free path of human spirit. The movement and expression of unconsciousness are strongly influenced by the inner work of the mural. "Mongheonjugihoa" is a style that continues to develop even now. Beokgang has rejected a stereotyped, fixed world and reconfigured and transformed objects. In other words, it has pursued a unique style of painting from the traditional brush centered on traditional ink painting to the traditional painting style, and has been able to use strong and unique colors without any qualms of harmony and fine brush strokes. It is a spiritual aspect of artistic depiction and expression that stimulates the viewer's spiritual insight. Therefore, you can experience a high level of true art.

The exhibition has displayed a high-quality world of works, from the latest stage of "Sumeru" to "Eternity-Sound(Om)". It is not an accident that you can read in your wall the quantum mechanics of science and multi-dimensional principles such as taegeuk, endlessness, pole of ecliptic and yin and yang, dots and strings. Given that man is a small space, the Beokgang connects the giant universe with the 'I.' That is the moment when the world of micro and macro coincide, and the moment when bright contradictions are born.
